Adventure the Third

[Coming back to the cottage from the battle with the statue, Philip took care of his horse Samson, moving on autopilot... then just slumped in a chair even as the horse flopped onto a carpet nearby.

Just give him a minute, he'll reach for the bandages soon... Right now, he'll just sit and stare at his battered and aching hands.]

I helped today. I know I did. Lives were saved by my actions; mine, and those of others. But what do you say to the people that died anyway?

What do you do, when your best just isn't good enough?

[Eh, we all fall out of old habits now and again. Forgiven and forgotten!]

So I'm beginning to understand... But I'm beginning to think we might want to try developing networks to handle rough situations faster, and more effectively. It'd come off so much more effectively if we knew what we were doing beforehand.

That would be a great idea. You should bring that up with the justice system here. I'm sure a lot of people would love to help with it.

...Given the way their guardsmen only showed up to join the fight after we managed to force it back to the sinkhole, I suspect relying on them wouldn't be the best of ideas.

Indeed, I'd been thinking it should be started with those who helped in the statue crisis, as we know they're both competent and willing- something an open call would be rather more difficult to prove.

Well... I think some of them went at the first sign of trouble, but of course there are some issues from time to time.

To be sure, there are always issues. But if we're to be thrown back on our own resources to save the day, we might wish to have those resources ready at hand.

[Because Philip was out there teaming up with multiple people, and he didn't see hide nor hair of any guardfolk in the fight. Maybe he just didn't see them... but if their presence was so minimal on the battlefield, that only proved his point.]
