Dreaming the First

Note: While this is no happy dream, it's also not a Moon Cycle nightmare; no illness shall be forthcoming.

NggggghhhAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

[Philip jerked upright in bed, covered in sweat and staring wildly at the dark of his bedroom- and at no point does he notice the faint glimmer of the Dreamberry at his bedside table, its purple glow fading away.]

[...Uh-oh. How to let her down without crashing her hopes? Easy, Philip, easy...]

Well, even if it wouldn't be wise to expect, we can always hope. I've seen that look Rapunzel gets, thinking of what I assume to be her Flynn... and to have him here for her- for all of us- would be a blessing indeed.

Phillip...[She smiled as she linked their fingers to both hands.] When I was here, I knew you would eventually come because we love each other and nothing, not even another world could keep us apart. I know someday Rapunzel will reunite with Flynn. It may be a few months but it will happen, because he's her true love.

[...Well, then.

Not much Philip could say to that, was there?

So he just smiled, tracing his thumbs over each hand of hers, before teasing her back to sitting on the bed in comfort with him.] To hear you tell it, I'm sure they'll be together again.

[He kissed her lightly this time, not wanting her to see him consider the corollary; even IF they were true lovers, destined to always find their way together (Something Rapunzel herself seemed to doubt), that didn't mean they'd be meeting here. What if Rapunzel woke again back home, and that was where their reunion took place?

But considering the effect that losing Rapunzel would have on Aurora, he really didn't want to bring it up. Besides, she was the fairy child; odds were, she knew a good bit more about the workings of magic than he did. Where did he get off, doubting her on this?]

One day or another, he'll come.

[She giggles and moved to wrap her hands around his neck.] You know, there's something I never did tell you since your coming to Somarium.

[Well if she's going to do that, he'll just have to slip his arms around her waist, now isn't he?] Hmm~? And what ever might that be, my love...

[She tapped his nose.] Can't you guess~

[...She's not going to say she's actually a dude or something, is she?]

Well, I wouldn't want to be thought impertinent. [Not that it stopped him from kissing HER nose, mind.]

[She makes an absolutely gorgeous woman if she WERE but no. She's 100% woman in every place it matters.]

Here in Somarium, when there is a full moon, wonderful things happen. So we should get married under one.

[As much of a relief as that is, her other revelation? Not so much.]

...You want to wait all the way to the full of the moon? [What happened to as fast as possible? He personally thinks that their marriage would count as a wonderful thing on its own, but...]

I know... it shall take longer. [Really, she does, Phillip. She wants to be your wife so much but...] But dangerous things happen in Somarium under new moons... I don't want anything ruined, Phillip. I-Is that alright?

[He might need a moment, pondering that over. Good things on full moons, bad things on new moons, possibly something to do with the nature of dreams?

Even so, while he did take that moment to consider, the end result for her idea was plain from the get-go.] I don't know about this 'bad things on new moons' business, but then I wouldn't know yet. If you say that's the way, then I'll believe it; it'd be a foolish person who gave their heart but not their trust, right? [Here, have a gentle and lightly teasing smile.]

If you want a round moon shining down on your wedding eve, we'll just have to make that happen.

Oh Phillip~ [Swooning? Who wouldn't swoon with such a wonderful betrothed? She wrapped her arms around his neck and curled her fingers along the back of his neck.] Have I told you how wonderful you are?

[Hey, it's kinda dangerous to be leaning over like that! He'll have to watch out for her safety... by picking her up and sitting her on his knees.

See? So much safer!] Not lately, but then you probably wanted to help me keep from growing too proud of myself.

[Always watching out for him, isn't she? Keep being such a splendid wife-to-be, and he'll have to kiss you... whoops, too late!]

Oh! [She likes being on his lap, and his kisses. She giggled as she gently moved to caress his cheek. The indecency of the moment was lost on just spending time with her beloved. Besides, they were to get betrothed, that had to mean something didn't it?]

With everything I keep learning about you it's amazing you've stayed so humble.

[Well, they ARE both clothed-ish.]

Oh, I've had some help there... [His face wanted to cloud up, remembering some of the lordlings and ladies who made game of his moral stance when they were all younger- but with Aurora on his lap, he just can't quite manage it.]

And besides, I've always found it rather humbling just how much out there there is to know. It's amazing what the hand of a skilled man can create.

[She moved one hand and linked fingers with him while the other stayed on around his shoulder.] Hmm, the hand of a skilled man are very well and good... but I think my favorite hands are the ones attached to the arms holding me.

Mmmm. [He smiled into her eyes, free hand sliding around her waist and pulling her closer against him for a proper bit of cuddling.] How very strange, I feel the same way...

[He kissed her then, and kissed her again; his lips meeting her own in a butterfly-light flurry of affection. As far as he was concerned, she was his lady, and he wanted to show how much he appreciated that fact.]

Not so strange, I think. [She teased back.] Unless there are other girls you've been holding in these arms? [She giggled at the sweet kisses pressed against her lips at his butterfly kisses.] Hmm, there must have been hundreds of princesses who wanted to be in these arms of yours.

None by choice, I promise. [He may have had to make nice to any number of well-connected daughters whose fathers shouldn't be offended, but he'd tended toward distant courtesy as best he could manage- and practically never danced with the same girl twice at a ball.]

And while I can't say about their feelings, I know for certain there's only one girl I want to hold.

Well, I certainly know there's only one man I want holding me... how fortunate he's my betrothed. [She rested her forehead against his. She wondered if Phillip's father or her own had ever once thought to get rid of the arrangement, sixteen years for her to marry. Was such a waiting period standard among royals? She didn't know. She knew very little of her father's kingdom and how things functioned.]

An astonishing coincidence, that. [He couldn't quite keep a straight face at his comment; as amazing a trick of Fate it was to fall in love with his promised bride, it's the proposal that had him truly feeling the right to call her his bride-to-be.]

I don't think so. [She kissed that smile.] It's not that difficult to fall in love with you. [She was starting to feel tired, late as it was. She rested her head on his shoulder.] Phillip, I love you.

[It had been a stressful night, then a joyous one; in either case the intense see-saw of emotions had done a number on Philip too. Sorry about the YAAAAAWWWWN, Aurora; it's not you, honest!]

My sweetest Aurora, the princess of my heart. [He stroked her hair softly, his own eyes drooping closed. And then, in faint whisper as he started to nod off...]

Don't think I could keep from loving you if I tried...

[She could only smile at his words before she kissed the underside of his jaw.] I think we should away to bed, my love. [She snuggled in close to him. She didn't really want to leave his arms. Especially not after his proposal.]

[He nodded his assent, eyes not really open as he held her gently.] Bed... 'f crse...

[They can just lean back and snooze then, right? That makes perfect sense.]
