Dreaming the First

Warnings: TAUNTINGS and DISNEY under the cut!
Dream Effects: Shocked surprise at first, fading to tenderness- and then a precipitous fall into miserable despair, gradually hardening to bitter determination
Note: While this is no happy dream, it's also not a Moon Cycle nightmare; no illness shall be forthcoming.

NggggghhhAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

[Philip jerked upright in bed, covered in sweat and staring wildly at the dark of his bedroom- and at no point does he notice the faint glimmer of the Dreamberry at his bedside table, its purple glow fading away.]

[She was near crying as she kissed him.]

[Philip's eyes took on an answering gleam as he rose, meeting her kiss with all the surging joy that was running through him- Happiest man in Somarium? That was understating it.]

[She wrapped her arms around his neck. It didn't matter that she was in her nightgown and he in sleeping pants. It didn't matter that this was after a nightmare of her being trapped in her curse. It certainly didn't matter that they were in a dream world. All that mattered was that the love of her life had asked her to marry him. Oh, she knew they were betrothed, she had been broken-hearted by the idea of being separated from Phillip only to be awoken by him and find out her betrothed and true love were one and the same. But even being betrothed and knowing they were someday going to wed was not the same as him getting on one knee and proposing.

She was in heaven. No, perhaps this was better than heaven... She wasn't sure. All she knew was that Phillip was here, holding and kissing her and she wanted nothing more than to stay this way forever.]

[His hands slid to her waist, his lips never leaving her own; whatever this place, its people, the very world itself would throw their way, from now on they'd face it together. That sheer splendid connection between them, exemplified in their kiss, exhilarated him beyond all reason-

And when the kiss finally ended, he looked down at her with wet and ecstatic eyes.] We're going to get married!

[Philip began to laugh, spinning Aurora through the bedroom in sheer glee; on a blessed occasion such as this, neither dark nor cold could touch them. Had he the space to try, he'd surely fly.]

[She laughs when she's lifted and spun and flying. She was soaring. She felt that way quite a bit with him.]

We're getting married! [She had to tell Rapunzel! She wanted to tell everyone! She was practically bursting with joy as she was being held by Phillip. As he brought her back down, she wasn't quite sure her feet were even touching the ground. Surely, they must be on clouds. When she was pressed up against him, she knew that they would be able to withstand the world.

Her hands moved to rest on his shoulders... only to remember he was still bare-chested. Aurora suddenly blushed deeply.]

We're getting married! [The laughter just wouldn't stop bubbling up, as he brought her down for another kiss; under the circumstances, how could he resist?

Gradually letting go their most recent meeting of hearts and lips, he beamed at her with the feeling like his heart was too small to contain all the love he felt for her...

And then he noticed her blush.

[And then he noticed the way his lifting her had hiked her nightshirt up; he could almost see her (beautiful) knees!

And THEN he noticed that he'd been shirtless all this time. Yeah, pretty much every exposed inch of his skin all went beet-red in an instant.

Even so, Philip made sure to set her down gently, ensuring she had her footing before he tore across the bedroom to hunt down a shirt to wear. And even through the awkward whirlwind of trying to stuff a shirt on as fast as humanly possible, Philip's voice came through as he tried to defuse the situation.]

Of course we'll want to set a date, and a locale, decide who's to officiate, come up with a feast and a show and attire and- Oh, there's so much to be done! Will you handle the invitations?

Rapunzel has already said she would help! And I've asked her to be my maid of honor! [So she was planning ahead, no harm in that.] Oh! Sir Tamaki is getting married as well, I'm sure we could ask if he knows of any good places! And who are we inviting? Shall we invite everyone? And oh there's so much to plan! [She's excited and she kisses him again.]

Let's get married as soon as we can. It will be beautiful no matter what because I'll be marrying you.

Does... does Rapunzel even know yet? [Admittedly, he's a bit 'bzuh' at that... but finding out she was certain enough of his love to already start making arrangements is both a) heartwarming, and b) makes life easier. So yay!]

I'll have to speak with this Sir Tamaki, then... but do you know, I learned of a place when I was last in Espoir that might best do the job. It could use a little clean-up, but what better place to wed my precious rose than the Church of the Rose? [He'll have a sly little grin at that; hee, wordplay!]

And yes, we'll invite everyone, and throw a grand banquet in the middle of town for all to enjoy! And- [Whup, she claimed his lips again; he's going to be a bit distracted. Give him a couple moments?]

[When she pulled away from the kiss she blushed.] We-Well... she doesn't... but I-I thought if you ever did... I would want her there.

[Normally he'd be following up on the lapse, but right now the woman he loved just agreed to marry him. Let's cut him some slack for not catching the nuances here, eh?] Well, I certainly think she'll make it all the better. A moment like this only comes ~~twice~~ once; it should be as good as we can make it, and your best friend being there for you is an important part of that.

[He just hopes it won't make her feel sad about missing this Flynn fellow; as much as he wants to show their love for the whole world to see, hurting people's hearts by seeing their happiness just isn't right.]

Well, everyone will be invited! [She hugged onto him.] And maybe... by the time we're getting ready... Flynn will return and he can join in on the celebrations.

Let them all come, we'll figure it out!

[...Uh-oh. How to let her down without crashing her hopes? Easy, Philip, easy...]

Well, even if it wouldn't be wise to expect, we can always hope. I've seen that look Rapunzel gets, thinking of what I assume to be her Flynn... and to have him here for her- for all of us- would be a blessing indeed.

Phillip...[She smiled as she linked their fingers to both hands.] When I was here, I knew you would eventually come because we love each other and nothing, not even another world could keep us apart. I know someday Rapunzel will reunite with Flynn. It may be a few months but it will happen, because he's her true love.

[...Well, then.

Not much Philip could say to that, was there?

So he just smiled, tracing his thumbs over each hand of hers, before teasing her back to sitting on the bed in comfort with him.] To hear you tell it, I'm sure they'll be together again.

[He kissed her lightly this time, not wanting her to see him consider the corollary; even IF they were true lovers, destined to always find their way together (Something Rapunzel herself seemed to doubt), that didn't mean they'd be meeting here. What if Rapunzel woke again back home, and that was where their reunion took place?

But considering the effect that losing Rapunzel would have on Aurora, he really didn't want to bring it up. Besides, she was the fairy child; odds were, she knew a good bit more about the workings of magic than he did. Where did he get off, doubting her on this?]

One day or another, he'll come.

[She giggles and moved to wrap her hands around his neck.] You know, there's something I never did tell you since your coming to Somarium.

[Well if she's going to do that, he'll just have to slip his arms around her waist, now isn't he?] Hmm~? And what ever might that be, my love...

[She tapped his nose.] Can't you guess~

[...She's not going to say she's actually a dude or something, is she?]

Well, I wouldn't want to be thought impertinent. [Not that it stopped him from kissing HER nose, mind.]

[She makes an absolutely gorgeous woman if she WERE but no. She's 100% woman in every place it matters.]

Here in Somarium, when there is a full moon, wonderful things happen. So we should get married under one.

[As much of a relief as that is, her other revelation? Not so much.]

...You want to wait all the way to the full of the moon? [What happened to as fast as possible? He personally thinks that their marriage would count as a wonderful thing on its own, but...]

I know... it shall take longer. [Really, she does, Phillip. She wants to be your wife so much but...] But dangerous things happen in Somarium under new moons... I don't want anything ruined, Phillip. I-Is that alright?

[He might need a moment, pondering that over. Good things on full moons, bad things on new moons, possibly something to do with the nature of dreams?

Even so, while he did take that moment to consider, the end result for her idea was plain from the get-go.] I don't know about this 'bad things on new moons' business, but then I wouldn't know yet. If you say that's the way, then I'll believe it; it'd be a foolish person who gave their heart but not their trust, right? [Here, have a gentle and lightly teasing smile.]

If you want a round moon shining down on your wedding eve, we'll just have to make that happen.

Oh Phillip~ [Swooning? Who wouldn't swoon with such a wonderful betrothed? She wrapped her arms around his neck and curled her fingers along the back of his neck.] Have I told you how wonderful you are?

[Hey, it's kinda dangerous to be leaning over like that! He'll have to watch out for her safety... by picking her up and sitting her on his knees.

See? So much safer!] Not lately, but then you probably wanted to help me keep from growing too proud of myself.

[Always watching out for him, isn't she? Keep being such a splendid wife-to-be, and he'll have to kiss you... whoops, too late!]
